First Day
Friday, July 17, 2009 at 9:33PM Whew, what a great day! We got the keys to the new location late yesterday, so today was our first full day in the building. We spent a lot of time checking the place out front to back and top to bottom and outlined an aggressive plan to get the doors open for business by August 3rd. Check out the "before" pictures on the Photos page. My brother Bruce came by and helped me take down the mirrors that were left on the wall by the previous tenant.
Mirrors were the first thing on the renovation list. Then we have plans to rip out the two interior walls in the entry, patch the walls, paint, put up new mirrors (bigger and better), recarpet the entry and put in about 1600 sqft of martial arts flooring. We also hope to have our temporary sign up in front of the building in the next week or so. It's a lot to do in just over 2 weeks. Check back often to see how we're doing.
We also picked up my newly wrapped Ford Expedition EL from Garage Graffix (1DayWraps.com). It looks really incredible, and it's going to play a big role in helping us get the word out that Shotokan has come the the Temecula Valley. Check out the pictures and the video, and check out the links page for more info about Garage Graffix. These guys did an excellent job and really did get the whole thing wrapped in just over a day.
